Email Etiquette
Goodness, I can barley spell that: e-t-i-q-u-e-t-t-e… phew. Just reading the opening paragraph of this reading made me feel guilty. I immediately thought back to all of the emails I procrastinate answering because I may not know the answer or want to have more time to give a full-on reply or maybe I don’t want to seem like a looser that is constantly checking their email. AND THEN, forgetfulness kicks in or is it perfection wrapped up in avoidance. See, if it is an email to a friend it may be easy to write them back but for professional reasons; that is where I see now I have made some big mistakes just because I wanted the email to be just right and so I put it off. I agree with the article; it is important to remain professional when writing emails. It can be so easy to get into a slump and forget to consider grammar and format but I feel like if we get too comfortable then it could lead to an adverse effect on your original intent.
Rules of Netiquette
Ha, nice pun. I like Rule 2: Adhere to the same standards of behavior online that you follow in real life. It has always been interesting to be how easy it is for someone to be outgoing and pouring their life’s soul over instant messaging, text messaging, the internet, etc but when it comes to face-to-face circumstances they remember who they are and seem to abide by social norms. I think it’s important, especially when being professional, to remain professional at all times; even when not faced by the person you may be communicating with. Rule 5 also caught my eye, “Make yourself look good online.” At first this title seems funny and vain but when reading into the rule it makes sense. It is important to write well when on the internet because we are only human and we find mistakes so that we can improve upon ourselves and so you can really hurt yourself by writing poorly on the internet. Honestly, I’m not exactly the greatest writer and it scares me to death to post things on the web. But hey, practice is always good!

I think an agriculture-media presenter said it best, "People reading our news articles and blogs are not the ones we should be worried about hacking into our lives, its those people that we hand our credit cards to."
I agree, we need to make sure we are our best-self online. I think the greatest part about having online access is the opportunity to read and discuss issues.
We have to be willing to enter the market so that there is an accurate representation of society on the internet. What do you think?
